... so far so good

... Yes I am still alive... after a brief haitus from blogspot, I can now blog (thanks to the apparent coup attempt against the Philippine government, these people should just get over the whole people power thing. It lost its essence the 2nd time around anyway), I am having a very unusual break because simply put, I have nothing to do.

Anyway, just a little disappointed because last night was suppose to be BlueRep's opening night of Sweet Charity in Ateneo. The morning of the 24th, Kakki (our company manager) and I were in a sort of panic because no matter what happened, we all wanted the show to go on, but word was getting out in Ateneo that everything will be closed down by 7. I rushed to school, she rushed to school... trying to come up with our own separate speeches for the Director of Administrative Services only to find out that they are letting us have a show...

But later on that day as technicals and sound check were going on Chari called the company to announce that the opening will be moved to Thursday and today's matinee and evening performance will be a Sunday performance next week because of the State of Emergency status of Manila.

Sayang nga eh, we were all getting siked up for the opening... everyone had their own little pre-show regimen started--- extra joss, red bull, make up, warming up their voices to some guitar jamming in the dressing room... but in hindsight, I feel that it was for the good of the show anyway. Technicals were a mess during the preview and some say energy needed some work. This weekend the cast will rest/recharge and hopefully come rehearsal time on Wednesday, we would run Sweet Charity like it was opening night and the energy will sustain us till the end of the run on Sunday! At least we still got time to promote the show. We have not sold out the other performances yet, as it has been with BlueREP we never require people to watch the shows, so we really have to promote, promote, and promote and make people interested enough to check it out.

Highlights of the bygone days since I last blogged:

  • Feb 14: Before rehearsals Chari gave me a nice cognac/brandy butter soap from Lush. Then she handed me a Beauty Bar Bag that she said she got in Hong Kong. I was like, ohh whoa, nice. Then I opened it...

It was from Rony!!

He got me a Burt's Bees Foot creme which included a cute bumble yellow socks, an Anne Proulx book which included the short story of Brokeback Mountain and a picture card from Chari and Abi!

So sweet, it was a nice surprise and a very sweet Valentine's Day/Birthday Present!

LOVE YOU BU!

  • Feb 16: My Birthday... I turned 22... so old... hay. Jepoy and Geegee got me a delicious chocolate frosted chocolate cake with a caramel filling inside. Yum! Shared it with the cast. It was also a dress rehearsal for Sweet Charity. There were saw dust everywhere... I was sick--- allergic rhinitis, fever, and phlegm... blech. It was not fun... Instead of celebrating my birthday, I went home right after rehearsals, took medication and went to sleep.

Geegee(Charity) and I (Monte the Cop) at one of our rehearsals.

  • Feb 17: Promotional event at Century Park Hotel in Manila. I was still sick, but it was a good exposure performing excerpts of Sweet Charity in front of an audience. Chari said, remember how it feels like to be doing what you love in front of these people, and yes it was a good feeling.

  • Feb 21: I was literally just so tired and I had an oral examination for my Theology class. Still sick, was too tired to study the night before and so nervous because of the damn test. Had a 7:30 AM class and went straight to the theatre to help out with the set and help supervise the set up for light and sounds also making letters for the admin to let us use the air-conditioning and extend our stay in the theatre so that technicals would be perfect na. 2:30 that day was my oral exam... Thank God i was able to pick a thesis which I just read about... hopefully my grade is more than a C.

  • Feb 23: First run of Sweet Charity with an audience. Lights and sound were a mess. Performance was okay. Had dinner at Mcdo with some of the cast and Enzo Virata, last year's company manager was there too. Nice to see him! Went home talked with Rony on the phone and slept.

  • Feb 24: Show was cancelled. awww sad face... Hung out at Geegee's with Aram over pizza and cold beer, then went home by 9 PM...

  • NOW: Just being here... wasting time, you know... hehe. Might see Memoirs of a Geisha or Munich with my brother at Eastwood or Gateway... not so sure yet... or hang out with my childhood friend Joe who is here from Pangasinan.

There ya go...

Oh my Rony is coming here on the 26th of March for some Disney work and extending his stay for a vacation in Boracay! Yay! I love it!!!

Thank God I got some birthday money that I was gonna use to make libre, but since I am selfish, I'll use it for Bora. I am so happy I'll get to spend the first part of the summer with Rony I finally get to spend time with him again... and at the beach pa... heaven!

So if you're there on the 30th to the third, let's be one with nature and party hardy! Hna gout with me and Rony and experience the land of milk and honey... (just wanted it to rhyme hehe).
