Traveling's the fun... Back tracking to my Summer thus Far
Well hello there. I am back from frolicking around with family and friends and ze boyfriend this summer.
First things first... i did not fail anything from last semester. Met the general average requirement so fuck it I am going back to Ateneo! yebah!

In celebration of those milestones I have been doing my own R&R back in the province where I am really from... Promdi nga naman noh... promdiprobins!(yeah corny)
Just got back from Dagupan... and before that stayed with my grandma in Baguio, and before that was in Bataan--- Corrigedor and Mt. Samat (Dambana ng Kagitingan, ring a bell?).
Bataan was definitely nostalgic because of its historical signifance in Philippine history during the 2nd World War. As in whoa, grabe going there was very educational... it was the last stand of the Philippines before the Japanese occupation during the 40s Filipino-Americana era.
Mile-Long Barracks, the longest barracks in the world, bombed by the Japanese where 400 thousand Filipino and Americans stayed.
Shet, I am officially a dork. Haha but who cares. The favorite site that I saw in Corrigedor was the old theatre. Of course it is already in ruins, but damn... you can just imagine the beauty it once had. You can still see the arches, the huge stage, the few remaining yellow painted ceilings, I was in awe, it was grand. Too bad I don't have my pics of it, but found one on the net...
Then it was off to Mt. Samat, the huge cross which was a memorial for the veterans of the Bataan Death March. The Japanese separated the Americans from the Filipinos where they took the Americans on truck to Tarlac while the Filipino soldiers were made to walk to Pampanga and then sent to Japanese concentration camps in Tarlac.
One fo the main reasons why the trip to Bataan was super worth it was because of this cross. I mean man... I know that a few of our relatives fought in the World War and one of my Lolos actually survived the Death March. Seeing this is like seeing the memorial at Ground Zero in New York.
So that was Bataan... after than went to Baguio and got to see my mother's mom... Lola Rosing. When I'm in Baguio I just stay home and enjoy the weather. Hung out with my sister and her friends from St. Louis in town a couple of times, but coffee and chit chats with my Lola were all I needed.
Learned a lot about my family... the Padilla side. Apparently I am related to Zsa Zsa Padilla. My Lola is a Padilla and is cousins with her dad. She used to watch boxing matches with Zsa Zsa's dad (the referee from those old rubbing alcohol commercials "Hindi lang pang pamilya pang sports pa")... OOOH di ba! And I am also related to Robin Padilla and Rustom Padilla, but that involves a whole lot of family scandal (sex, lies, bastard sons, etc.)... But who cares, they are Filipino icons! I knew it! Homosexuality runs in the family! Bwahaha!
Another discovery which is both helpful and inspirational is that my mom's dad was a playwright and director before joining the guerilla soldiers in the Cordilliera region. He was from Bulacan and wrote zarzuelas, melodramas, and political satyrs... I'm NOT ALONE!!!!! My Lola was a music school teacher in the Mt. Province.
On the other side of things, spent my nights playing Scrabble with my little brother one-on-one cause there is no cable in Lola's house. Now i am addicted to the game. It says that you are considered a good scrabble player when you're score on a one-on-one game is 300 or more. My highest was 267... need to increase vocabulary!

I know this update has long been overdue. Am typing like crazy. You can stop now you know.
Went to Bolinao in Pangsinan with a couple of friends from Dagupan... Beach beach beach!!!! This place was where my family and I spend the summer's at if not in Baguio when I was a kid. It was nice to be back after a while. My friend Tina was gonna leave for the US soon so this was sorta a despidida. My relatives were sooooo nice! Food galore--- cheap crabs and shrimps, and green mangoes, and coke on plastic cups with the faint salt taste in your mouth from being in the ocean. One of the best times. Medyo nahiya lang ako kasi I have not gone there for a while, but my Titas and Titos were all out with the food and accomodations. We stayed at my uncle's farm house outside of town and it was a great bonding experience, except for a few annoying moments I shall not discuss in this blog.

Contemplating kuno
Rony was here the first few weeks of summer where we spent 3 days and two nights at Boracay with Angel and Louis (Rony's older sister and brother-in-law). It was fun finally not thinking about anything academic. I promised myself that i will be bumming at the beach this summer being at peace with nature and everything that comes along with it so it was a great gift from my bubu.
Growing up in Pangasinan, I practically lived by the sea all my childhood life, and it was nice to have that back, and it was in Boracay pa. We stayed at this classy hotel on a cliff called Nami overlooking the shores of Boracay. It's sorta isolated from where every thing else is happening... parties and such... so it was great. It was serene and quiet and that's what I wanted.
